A few nights ago in my Poet's Cafe class, one of my students wrote a terrific poem about candy. The topic for the evening was actually "Lies", but she wrote the poem about lies she had told, (and planned to tell in the future), in order to obtain candy. She used a chocolate lollipop in the shape of an Anime character for inspiration. It sat next to her notebook the whole time she was writing. I don't know if she ever did eat it.
Write a poem about candy. Any kind of candy. What you would do for it. What you like. Candy memories. The worst kind of candy. Getting sick from candy. Lies you've told to get it. What your favorite wrapper looks like. Where you hid yours when you when you were a kid, and where you hide it now.

Poetry *is* candy.
